These three image are the original ones that I took. The first two photos I edited and cut so I could remove the background and have the artist on a coloured background that was the colour of the page. The programme I used to cut and edit photographs was Paint, this was because I was familiar with the way it worked. I didn't cut round the interview picture as I wanted to suggest it was an interview by keeping the sofa.
These are all the pictures I took of Tayler, some that I didn't use in my magazine and some that I did:
I had taken photos from a concert and included Dappy and Will Young in my magazine. These are the original photos that weren't edited:
I then edited these photos using Paint:
When I had cut around each picture to remove the background, I then put the image on word document with the coloured background I was going to use, then I printed the screen and copied it to Paint. In Paint I used the 'Color Picker' tool and then the 'Fill With Color' tool, to create the coloured background. I then put it back on word and it was the same colour as the background I wanted to use.
These are all the photos I took that I was going to chose between for my front cover:
This photo didn't work because there was some dark parts and then some light parts where the sun was hitting, I wanted an equal light balance.
I didn't feel that the fence background would have worked because it wasn't flat, e.g like a brick wall is. Also there is some shadow and some lighter parts which I didn't want.
This photo didn't work because the sun was in the eyes of the artist and so it caused a squint. Also the pattern of the garage I didn't think would work with text on. I felt it had to be a flat background.
I tried against a brick wall and thought this would be better as it was flat and would look better with text on it, if I was to use that idea for a background. I also felt a mid shot would be better, rather than a long shot.
I then used a mid shot on the artist against a brick wall and thought this worked well. I took down the wooden wind chime because I felt this got in the way. Although I had captured the bell and the newspaper box in the background I knew I could edit these out later.
I had the artist holding drum sticks and this was to give the music magazine feel. Although in the magazines I had analysed no one was holding props I thought I would to break the codes and conventions.
This was the website I used to create a realistic looking barcode. I thought this bar code looked quite long and so I cut it to make it slightly shorted. I looked at an already existing barcode to see how many numbers are used and how long the numbers were between spaces. When i had create a barcode I print screen the website and cropped the barcode so it appeared just the barcode without the website.
